Terry Kasdan earned his Master’s degree in advertising from the University of Illinois in 1998 where, as a prestigious James Webb Young Fellow, he also taught two undergraduate courses in advertising design. After a stint with CNN.com in Atlanta, Terry served as Art Director/Digital Graphics Designer for a full-service advertising agency working on projects in a variety of media. Terry left that position in 1999 to found atCommunications. He now also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the College of Media at the University of Illinois where he teaches entrepreneurship to juniors and seniors majoring in advertising.
Terry also received his Bachelor’s degree in advertising from Illinois. As an undergraduate, Terry earned All-America and Academic All-America honors as the starting goalie for the Fighting Illini’s nationally-ranked ACHA Division 1 ice hockey team. Terry played professionally in the minor league Class ‘A’ North Eastern Hockey League and the semi-pro Great Lakes Hockey League, and he is now a Level 4 USA Hockey-certified professional ice hockey coach and official.
In addition, Terry co-founded and served on the Board of Directors of The OurHealth Network until he and his partners sold it to a private equity firm in 2011. The OurHealth Network is an angel-funded system of e-commerce Web sites providing medical product distribution to more than 1,600 paying doctor subscribers and 100,000 paid customers across America. Terry also serves on the James Webb Young Board, a professional advisory board to the University of Illinois’ College of Media/Department of Advertising; he recently served on the faculty of the American Hospital Association’s Healthcare Strategy & Market Development Conference; he guest speaks at high schools, universities, and ad agencies across the Midwest; and he is frequently cited in the media as an expert in the areas of digital marketing and emerging technology.
